Dear Clubs and Coaches,
We are writing to issue an urgent reminder regarding safeguarding and data protection requirements during all games, practices, and events under England Ice Hockey jurisdiction.
It has come to our attention that some individuals may be using smart glasses (such as Ray-Ban Meta or similar devices) capable of discreetly recording video and audio.
Please note that:
Recording using smart glasses or any covert wearable device is strictly prohibited during games, practices, or any events involving players, particularly minors.
This is a direct violation of the England Ice Hockey Photography, Filming and Live Streaming Policy for Junior Clubs, which prohibits secret or covert recording.
Only officially approved and openly visible filming devices, used with appropriate prior consent, are permitted.
Secret or undisclosed recording is a breach of safeguarding standards and may also violate data protection laws (GDPR).
All clubs and coaches must immediately ensure:
No use of smart glasses or similar recording devices during any sessions or events.
Clear communication to all team officials, volunteers, and parents about this prohibition.
Immediate reporting to
safeguarding@englandicehockey.com if any concerns arise regarding unauthorized recording.
Safeguarding the privacy, safety, and wellbeing of all participants remains our highest priority. We appreciate your immediate attention to this matter and thank you for your continued commitment to maintaining a safe and respectful environment.
